Special young WWE fans have been given a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet — and trash talk — with some of their favourite wrestlers.

As part of the WWE’s partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Starlight Australia, seven sick children travelled from across WA and the country to meet the stars at Perth Zoo on Friday morning.

Tears of joy filled the room as the devoted fans — some who had waited as long as four years to meet their idols — sat down to speak with wrestling personalities including Rhea Ripley, Kevin Owens, Naomi, Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio.

Wrestling fanatic Joshua Cox, 10, has been a fan of the sport for six years and is a major Rhea Ripley supporter because of her “cool” look and impressive muscles.

“I’m really looking forward to Elimination Chamber, I think Randy will go through to Wrestlemania,” he said.

“If The Rock does end up coming, I’m jumping over the barrier and tackling him. I don’t like his attitude, I don’t like it.”

The children then got a special tour through the zoo’s back corridors where they fed giraffes with their heroes and saw lions.

Australia’s own Rhea Ripley was a favourite among the children.

“It feels amazing seeing how excited they are to meet us,” she said.

“Just seeing the shock on their faces in that first instance, it made my heart happy.

“Actually walking around and sitting at the tables and seeing how excited they are for the show, it’s just special.

“It feels really special to me that we can have these events and meet these kids and make their day and make them smile for a little bit and bring some joy to their families.

“The community gives so much to us, so it’s only fair that we give back.

“With how much they do go through, they push through and they do it because they’re strong children and, they also love and what they love, so knowing that it could possibly be us that helps them fight whatever they’re going through, it makes my day.”
