Spectators watching Sunday’s clash between the Eaton Boomers and Busselton women’s teams at Glen Huon Reserve could have been forgiven for thinking Magpies utility Beth Beckett brought her own football.

Whether it was in the forward line or charging out of the centre square, Beckett had the ball on a string during her side’s 12.11 (83) to 0.1 (1) win over the Boomers.

Despite being clearly best on ground for the visitors, Beckett was not the only player wearing black and white to have a productive afternoon.

In the ruck and up forward, Emma Borinelli’s presence was straight out of the top drawer, while Katie-Jayne Grieve and Kat Shrewsbury were also damaging in the corridor.

Her name might not have been on the Play HQ team sheet, however Busselton coach Rennie Meadmore also pulled on the boots and was serviceable across all four quarters.

With the result confirmed long before the final whistle, a sour element of niggle unfortunately found its way into the game between both sides — culminating in multiple on-field confrontations between Kiarni Stevens (Eaton Boomers) and Busselton’s Gemma Wharton, who both used to be teammates at South Bunbury.
