Wanderers go fourth in ALM with big win over Glory

Not content with helping Western Sydney into the top six, young attacker Aydan Hammond is demanding more after a thumping 4-1 win over Perth Glory.
The Wanderers came from behind to claim their third win on the bounce after Adam Taggart opened the scoring in the fifth minute at CommBank Stadium on Sunday.
Hammond equalised with a wonder strike in the 14th minute, then put the Wanderers ahead in the 39th, before Oscar Priestman and Bozhidar Kraev struck in the second half.
With victory over coach Alen Stajcic's former side, the Wanderers sit fourth, just a point behind second-placed Western United and third-placed Adelaide, and ahead of Melbourne City on goal difference.
"Now we move forward to the next win," Hammond told Paramount Plus.
"We want to finish in that top three. We're not worrying about the top six. We want to get in that top three."
The Wanderers should have scored in the second minute when Zac Sapsford had a tap-in cleared off the line by Josh Risdon.
Three minutes later, Yuto Misao launched a super ball for Lachie Wales, who kept the ball in play then brilliantly cut it back for Taggart to volley home.
Minutes later, the ball skidded out to Hammond at the edge of the area and he cut onto his right foot before unleashing a wonderful strike into the top corner.
"The first thing I saw was the goal," Hammond said.
"I've been practicing in training, these knuckle balls.
"And any opportunity that I get, any two yards that I get, I take the opportunity and smack it. So I put it in the net."
Western Sydney took the lead when Kraev hit the woodwork, but Hammond was on hand to tap home the rebound.
The Wanderers struck again when Oli Sail passed to an under-pressure Luke Amos, whose poor attempted back-pass fell to Oscar Priestman to score.
In the 66th minute, Sapsford teed up Kraev to stroke home a fourth goal.
"It's probably the most comfortable we've felt, throughout a game, from start to finish, despite going 1-0 down early," Stajcic told Paramount Plus.
"I thought we had good control of the game for large portions."
Perth's Josh Risdon limped off in the 80th minute and had his right ankle iced.
Both teams aren't in action again until March 15, when the Wanderers play Melbourne Victory, while David Zdrilic's 11th-placed Perth host Brisbane.
"I just don't think we managed the game," Zdrilic said.
"They came out strong, actually, even before we scored the goal, and started the game really well, then we got the goal. And I thought that was exactly what we needed.
"But we just didn't manage the moments after that."
