VideoGrand Final spots on the line in the AFL, plus a battle of Sydney bluebloods in the NRL.

Outspoken former Port Adelaide player Kane Cornes has ripped into the Dockers over their best and fairest results.

Caleb Serong was a clear winner in the Doig Medal held on Wednesday night, but a pair of star big men caught Cornes’ infamous ire.

The footy commentator has been a long-term detractor of Fremantle pairing ruckman Sean Darcy with Luke Jackson after the latter’s blockbuster trade from Melbourne.

And with the pair being paid around $1 million per season each, Cornes was left fuming after the best they could muster in the best and fairest votes was ninth from Jackson.

“It’s best and fairest season at the moment, so it’s always interesting going through them,” he said on SEN.

“There are always little nuggets we can find in best and fairest results, and I just want to focus on Fremantle.

“If you’re paying two ruckmen a million bucks each, and that’s a million bucks each for seven years, I would expect better than one of those two finishing ninth in the best and fairest.

“Luke Jackson was nearly beaten by Brandon Walker in the best and fairest, it’s been nothing but a complete disaster those two rucks.

“So well done to Caleb Serong, but my dig is to Luke Jackson and Sean Darcy and the bizarre list management decisions at Fremantle, where only one of their million-dollar rucks managed to finish ninth in the best and fairest.

“It is unbelievable.”

Darcy only managed to play 12 games as he battled persistent injuries and struggled to regain fitness.

However, Jackson played 23 and was often one of the best Dockers afield but was even outvoted by captain Alex Pearce, who missed most of the second half of the campaign with a fractured arm.

Serong joined three of the biggest names in the club’s history on Wednesday after polling 240 votes to win the best-and-fairest by nine votes from Andrew Brayshaw to claim his second Doig Medal.
