Fremantle Dockers training notes on Michael Frederick, Alex Pearce, Nat Fyfe, Luke Jackson and Hayden Young

Fremantle’s experienced players were back on the training track and they were welcomed with three 1km time trials as part of their first session of the pre-season. Here’s what we saw at Dockers training on Monday. They’re Back It was a case of all men on deck for Monday morning’s session as the experienced players returned from their extended leave. Anyone who has been on a list for more then four years throughout the league gets extra time off at the end of the season and that meant stars such as Nat Fyfe, Alex Pearce, Michael Walters, Luke Ryan, Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong weren’t required back until now. Running Men Time trials are one of the most intriguing parts of the return to training for fans and one of the most worrying parts for players. The Dockers completed three 1km time trials to welcome them to the session. Captain Alex Pearce won one of those runs, forward Michael Frederick crossed the line first in another while draftee Jaren Carr took bragging rights in the third. That was a great sign for the new face. Not all players were required to run. Jeremy Sharp, Fyfe and Serong were among those not involved. Injury News Hayden Young was moving well after avoiding surgery on the fractured leg in the last game of the season. Sean Darcy was doing rehab by himself following knee surgery. Darcy isn’t expected to train fully until the new year. His rucking partner Luke Jackson was doing it tough during the time trial after an interrupted pre-season that included having his tonsils removed and focusing on bulking up instead of running during the break. New Faces Draftees Murphy Reid, Charlie Nicholls and Aiden Riddle all watched from the sidelines during their first day at the club. The Dockers wanted to be certain that they hadn’t arrived with any injury concerns before throwing them into training. Carr was assessed last week which allowed him to participate. Quinton Narkle did some indoor training after signing on Monday. New defensive coach Jade Rawlings got to work with his experienced players for the first time.
