A moment of magic from Australian Dyson Daniels has helped his Atlanta Hawks take the points in the dying seconds of an NBA nail-biter against Memphis.

The Grizzlies had looked like holding on for a home victory on Monday night (Tuesday AEDT), but Daniels helped the visitors turn the game on its head as the final buzzer loomed.

Desmond Bane had registered has first career triple-double for Memphis, but Daniels stole the ball from him with 3.8 seconds remaining.

Daniels' teammate Carl LeVert got the ball and streaked down the floor for a lay-up that beat the buzzer, confirmed after an official review.

His hot hands at the death capped off a tremendous game for Daniels, who had three rebounds and seven assists to go with his 14 points.

"It's going out there and just making plays," Daniels said. "I just want to win games, and the playoffs is what we're trying to get to, so we need to win some more games."

LeVert finished with 25 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter.

Zaccharie Risacher top-scored with 27 points for Atlanta.

Bane led Memphis with a season-high 35 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

The Grizzlies, already with Santi Aldama and Ja Morant sitting out with injuries, lost Jaren Jackson Jr less than two minutes into the game when he went down with a left ankle injury after trying to block a shot by Daniels.

LeVert's final basket marked the third straight Memphis loss when the opponent scored the winner in the closing seconds. The Grizzlies lost over the weekend to the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.

In Oklahoma City, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 51 points as the Thunder defeated the Houston Rockets 137-128 for their 50th win of the season.

Gilgeous-Alexander reached 50 points for the fourth time this season, all in the past seven weeks. The NBA's scoring leader finished with at least 40 for the ninth time in 2024-25. He made 18 of 30 field goals, went 5-of-9 on three-pointers and hit all 10 of his free throws.

Jalen Williams added 24 points for the Thunder (50-11).

Cam Whitmore matched career highs with 27 points and 11 rebounds, and Reed Sheppard added a career-best 25 points for the Rockets (37-24).

Houston's Australian duo Jock Landale and Jack McVeigh did their bit but couldn't get their side over the line.

Landale had 21 minutes of game time for three rebounds, one assist and six points.

McVeigh also managed six points from just seven minutes of court time.

In Philadelphia, Anfernee Simons scored 21 of his 34 points in the second half as the visiting Portland Trail Blazers, featuring Australian Duop Reath, beat the 76ers 119-102.

Simons shot 13-for-26, including 6-for-11 from beyond the arc. Shaedon Sharpe added 20 points, a career-high 11 rebounds and five assists.

Reath had a solid game for the Trail Blazers, with five rebounds, two assists and 13 points from 18 minutes on the court.

Andre Drummond finished with 25 points, 18 rebounds and two steals for the 76ers.

In Dallas, Zach LaVine scored 22 points and DeMar DeRozan added 20 as the Sacramento Kings beat the Mavericks 122-98, with the Mavericks losing Kyrie Irving late in the first quarter to a left knee sprain.

The Kings have won four consecutive games, while the Mavericks have dropped two straight and four of five.

Melbourne-born Irving landed awkwardly after being fouled on a drive to the basket and immediately grabbed his leg, remaining on the floor for multiple minutes. He was helped to the free-throw line and sank both shots before being helped to the locker room.

In other results, Golden State scored a 119-101 road win over Charlotte, Miami beat the visiting Washington 106-90, and Detroit proved far too strong for the Jazz, winning 134-106 in Salt Lake City.
