Fremantle have now locked away their entire 2019 AFL Draft haul, with Michael Frederick the final young gun to sign on until the end of 2023.

Frederick (pick 61), joins Hayden Young (pic 7), Caleb Serong (pick 8) and Liam Henry (pick 9) to re-commit to the Dockers for two more years.

The 20-year-old, from South Australia, made 10 appearances in his first year after debuting in the Western Derby back in round seven.

Frederick said it was an easy decision to remain in the west as the Dockers look to build on a solid second season under coach Justin Longmuir.

“It’s good to know that I’ll be here for another three years, it means I can just narrow down and focus on training and on getting better for 2021,” Frederick said.

“It’s exciting to think about what we can bring next year. We had a really good second part of the season, especially seeing what Caleb Serong has done as well as Adam Cerra and Andy Brayshaw.

“It’s really good for the fans looking ahead for the future. I can’t wait.”

Fremantle’s head of player personnel David Walls said Frederick’s decision to remain in WA was a boost for the Dockers.

“This year we saw Michael’s speed, his elite run and his ability to play structure, understand the game plan and execute what the coaches wanted from him,” Walls said.

“We had Bradley Hill and Ed Langdon leave last year so we don’t have a lot of speed on our list. He really gives us that and I think as he grows in confidence we’ll see him use it more and more.

“He’s hungry to improve, he’s really humble and he improved over the season.

“With this contract extension, it will give him some security and allow him to improve year on year. I think it’s his attitude that allows him to do that.”

On top of Frederick, Young, Serong and Henry’s signatures, the Dockers have also re-signed forward turned defender Brennan Cox until the end of 2022.
