Donald Trump Inauguration: Joe Biden and Kamal Harris sat and took their medicine as new President sworn in

Newly sworn in US President Donald Trump felt no awkwardness toward his former sparring partners Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as he launched a stunning parting swipe during his inauguration speech in Washington.

Hours earlier Donald Trump, Joe Biden and their wives shared a tea party at the White House, as the Trumps prepare to move in and the Bidens negotiate their final departure, but pleasantries were cast aside at the podium once Donald Trump become the new commander in chief.

Former President Biden and Vice President Harris sat only feet away from Donald Trump as he declared the new Trump era the beginning of a ‘golden age’.

As he so often does President Trump took the opportunity to take aim at the Democrats who had mercilessly attacked him over the past four years.

At almost twice the length of his first inauguration speech in 2017 Trump took aim at the “radical and corrupt establishment” that had “extracted power and wealth from our citizens while the pillars of our society lay broken and seemingly in complete disrepair”.

“Those who wished to stop our cause have tried to take my freedom, and indeed, take my life,” President Trump said alluding to the two assassination attempts and numerous civil and criminal attacks launched against him.

“The American people have spoken. I was saved by God to make America great again,” the President said as his political rivals sat uncomfortably close by.

Joe Biden who has been widely criticised for pardoning his family from any crimes they may have committed since 2014, pardoning members of the January 6 Committee which sought to prosecute Donald Trump and Anthony Fauci and commuted many ‘death row’ inmates’ sentences could only sit and take his medicine as Trump held court.
