A Geographe woman has been named in the top two in Australia for under-18s indoor hockey.

Anna Roberts, 18, was selected as the captain for the WA team in the under-18 Indoor Hockey Championships last month in Melbourne.

Miss Roberts said it was a great experience and she was honoured to be in the top two.

"This my third time in the under-18 team. We came fourth which was a bit disappointing, but there was a lot of good competition," she said.

"I received player of the tournament and was the highest goal scorer for the tournament with 15 goals.

"It's pretty exciting to get the honour, especially since there were so many other great players there."

Miss Roberts also played in the open WA hockey team in December in Canberra and from there was selected into the Australian Under-22 Development Squad.

She said the squad was where players were selected for the Hockey World Cup in 2018.

"It's pretty exciting as to be in a senior squad and to know I was only one of four players from WA to make the squad," Miss Roberts said.

"The squad will consist of training camps and competitions and will help me get to my dream of going to the next world cup."
