Community groups and schools have been hard at work with Busselton RSL and Hot Chocolatte, crafting red felt poppies for Remembrance Day.

As part of the poppy project, the City of Busselton will join other towns and cities across the world and will decorate streets and memorials with the handmade red poppies.

So far nearly 2000 poppies have been crafted, but the target is 3000 and leading the charge is Busselton quilt-maker Joan Tuffin.

The plan is to install the poppies around the war memorial at Victoria Square on Albert Street, in Dunsborough's Lions Park and at the war memorial outside Dunsborough Hall.

Ms Tuffin will run a poppy-making busy bee at Busselton Library next Wednesday from 9am to 4pm, with all materials supplied.

Anyone interested in taking part will need to bring a pair of scissors and a plate for a shared lunch.

Those interested in the busy bee, or who would like to help with the installation of the poppies, can contact City of Busselton cultural development office Jacquie Happ on 9781 0335, or email Jacquie.happ@busselton.wa.gov .au.
