Past staff and students from Busselton Senior High School are being encouraged to join the school's alumni.

Principal Dainon Couzic said he had been amazed at the number of people who had attended the school and the history that existed within the community.

"The school is constantly contacted about how to reach people for high school reunions," he said.

South West MLC Barry House was the school's former dux and head boy before graduating in 1967.

Mr House then returned to the school to work as a youth education officer and teacher.

"BSHS has been at the heart of the Busselton community for over 50 years and has had a major influence on the direction the town has taken," Mr Couzic said.

"Many past students received a really good educational grounding at this school and have gone on to serve our community.

"The alumni (group) is important as it will help reconnect former students with the school and each other, and provide avenues to offer support in the future."

City of Busselton councillor and former BSHS deputy principal and school board member Tom Tuffin encouraged people to join and pass on the link to former students and staff
