Solar panels cut senior's centre costs
Busselton Senior Citizens staff are hoping to cut electricity costs for the centre by $8000 a year, after the installation of 84 solar panels.
The solar panels were recently fitted to the building, and will produce about 21kW of power.
Centre manager Bruce Thiel said the annual power bill could be up to $20,000 each year and he added it was great to be able to pass the savings on to members.
"We, the board, recognise that power costs are ever-increasing and the opportunity presented itself to purchase these packs," he said. "We believe the benefits will be seen for years to come."
Centre chairman Tony Eagles said money saved through the solar panels could be put into future projects at the centre.
