City of Busselton officers say they are "gutted" the new Busselton skate park has been vandalised just days after it was partly opened for youth to enjoy a sneak peek of the facilities.

The City believes the incident happened between 8pm and 10pm last night.

City of Busselton foreshore technical officer Chris Shaw said the skate park was opened out of fairness to local skaters after the closure of the old park.

"This skate park has been four years in planning, more than six months of construction and then to come and see this today is horrible," he said.

"The whole foreshore project is our baby - we've spent $10 million and we've had so many people who worked hard to make it the best it could be and this will be disappointing for all of them."

Vandals spray-painted foul language and graffiti around the smaller skate bowl at the complex.

The $1.35 million precinct is due to be completed in December for its official opening on December 13, offering 2000sqm of recreational space.

City of Busselton major projects manager Paul Crewe said the skate park had been targeted each night by vandals since it opened.

"The first night they tried to push over the fence into the construction area, the second night they threw bits of lawn and rubbish around the park and the third night they've vandalised it," he said.

"We will put the fences up again now until it is finished.

"Unfortunately thanks to a minority the experience has been ruined for dozens of kids who have done the right thing."
