Busselton-based BMX rider Bryn Weinman thinks the new Busselton Skate Park will rival others around the world.

Weinman has competed throughout Australia and America and said the new precinct would offer a world-class facility once completed.

He said the skate park would attract people from all over the State.

"This skate park is going to be one of the best in WA, so it means it's going to be an attraction for skate park users, plus tourists," he said.

"People will come from all over to ride or skate one of the deepest bowls in WA. This means sponsors will pay for their athletes to come out and compete in contests and film for video parts, because it's worth the travel."

The $1.35 million precinct is due to be completed before November and will offer 2000sqm of recreational space.

City of Busselton project manager Paul Crewe said although the park was on track for completion, it may be delayed if people continued to skate on the unfinished surfaces in the construction zone.

He said construction was at a critical point and it was important people stayed out of the area.

"We are about to seal and paint the top surface; if kids skate, scooter or even walk on the surfaces from here on in, it will permanently damage the finish," he said.

"Effectively this will mean that the finished surfaces will not be as smooth or as fast as they should be."

The park will offer one of the largest bowls in WA at 18m long, 10m wide and 3m deep, making it suitable for competitions.

There will also be a range of challenges including kerbing, parking block ledges, skate rails and a smaller quarter pipe.

Busselton skateboarder Ricky Watt said he rallied for the original Busselton skate park when he was in high school and was excited to see the new one built.

"Busselton is growing in population and a park like this gives local kids a chance to advance their skills on a world-class facility," he said.

"It will be good to have more space and obstacles to skate and I think people from all over WA will travel just to skate here."
