If he was hoping to go incognito on his stroll in the sunshine along the river, Chris Martin must have been disappointed.

But the Coldplay frontman seemed only too happy that his plans were dashed, smiling as he stopped and chatted to fans and even jumping a fence to meet a newlywed couple on Friday afternoon.

The multimillion-dollar earning band’s frontman was greeted by admirers as he exited the gate of the luxury Crown Perth property where he is staying this weekend while Coldplay performs two exclusive concerts at Optus Stadium.

Martin said he was “grateful” and “happy to see everyone” as he posed for photos before going for a walk with band manager Phil Harvey.

“Just thank you, we are lucky to play everywhere, particularly in the city furthest away in the world,” the 46-year-old said of coming to play in Perth.

“We are just grateful. I’m just happy to see everyone.”

But it was newlyweds Lara and Keenan Meade who were particularly happy when their big day was made even more special when Martin jumped a fence to meet them.

The couple said it was a surreal moment — particularly because the bride had walked down the aisle to Coldplay’s hit Sky Full of Stars. Ms Meade said she called out to Martin while he was on the walk but was in disbelief when he leapt at the chance to meet the pair.

“Our entrance song was Coldplay, so there you go. It was meant to be,” Mrs Meade said. “We invited him to our wedding celebrations but he’s resting his voice tonight.”

However, her new husband said he was still holding out hope. “He was a bit reluctant to but hopefully later on he comes,” Mr Meade said.

Martin gave the couple his best wishes before giving the bride his LOVE pin, which had been on his T-shirt.

“This will be in our memories forever. It’s surreal,” Mr Meade said.

Earlier in the day, Martin’s Coldplay bandmates made a quick trip to the South West via helicopter, landing at renowned Leeuwin Estate about 11.30am.

While the Denis and Tricia Horgan-founded winery has hosted many stars at its stellar Leeuwin concerts throughout the years, band members Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion were just in town for a feed and to enjoy some of the region’s best wines.

They arrived at the lavish venue about 11.30am and left to cheers from onlooking diners just after 3pm.

The trio were in high spirits when they took to the air, posing for selfies and clutching Leeuwin Estate Art Series wines to take with them.

As they left, onlookers flooded the lawn in disbelief, asking each other, “Was that really Coldplay?”

The band arrived in WA from Indonesia on Thursday night after the Asian leg of their Music of the Spheres world tour.

Coldplay will take on Optus Stadium for two blockbuster performances, with fans coming from near and far to see the band in what’s expected to be an economic boon for WA.

Optus Stadium boss Mike McKenna said the weekend could be bigger than 2021’s AFL grand final because of the “unparalleled” scale of Coldplay’s shows.

“It’s one of the biggest weekends we’ve ever had,” he said.

“We’ve had weekends with triple headers at football games, the AFL grand final, and concerts including Ed Sheeran with 73,000 having turned up to that. But putting back to back two big events like this ... and it’s not just the numbers that are coming, it’s the the scale of the show with pyrotechnics and confetti with lights and sounds, it is going to be very dramatic.”

It’s anticipated as many as 134,000 fans will be there over the weekend.
