Model students mark Jetty's 150
Busselton students will be able to help celebrate the Busselton Jetty's 150th anniversary this month by building their own jetty.
The project, which was launched yesterday giving students time to build their jetty out of any recycled materials, old car parts and agriculture implements.
Busselton Jetty chief executive Lisa Shreeve said the only restriction was it could be no bigger than one metre by one metre.
She said children visited the Busselton Jetty every day and this was their chance to show their artistic side.
"Students who depict themselves on the jetty, showing how they use it and why they love it, will get extra points from the judges," she said.
"The idea of building your own jetty was done 30 years ago, and hasn't been done since, so we thought it would be a great way to get kids involved and celebrate.
"Some of the entries will be displayed at Westpac and the WA Museum."
The competition runs until September 6, when entrants will display their work for judging on the Busselton foreshore, with $600 worth of prizes up for grabs.
