Australian indie folk band Little May will join a host of other international names at Southbound in January.

The Sydney-based trio, made up of Annie Hamilton, Liz Drummond and Hannah Field, are known for their dark tangle of raw, honest lyrics and haunting melodies.

The band were named to play alongside Birds of Tokyo, Hilltop Hoods, Bloc Party, Courtney Barnett, Disclosure and a host of others at the three-day festival.

The _Times _ spoke with Little May's Liz Drummond who said she was excited to spend time in Busselton.

"It's our very first time playing in Busselton; we've played at Margaret River before, but didn't have much of a chance to spend time in the region so we are looking forward to experiencing it," she said. "I've never been to Southbound so I'm not too sure what to expect; it's very different to some of the other venues we play, so it will be new for us."

The band recently released their single Home and are awaiting the release of their much anticipated album.

Drummond said fans would get to listen to a mixture of new and old music at the festival.

"Audiences will get to hear the new album, which is a bit heavier than our previous work, but still guitar-based," she said.

"We're really looking forward to sharing the new album with our fans and getting across to WA."

Southbound will come to Busselton from January 8 to 10.
