Busselton student Tristan-Hugh Hilston is already well on his way to becoming a published writer.

The Year 9 Geographe Education Support Centre student recently had a story of his included in the student collaborative book The Write Track.

Tristan-Hugh jumped at the opportunity to enter a piece into the nationwide Write 4 Fun competition and penned The Crazy Scientist, which revolved around a gorilla who was also the titular scientist.

The story also featured a cameo from one of his school friends.

He had to keep the tale to 600 words and said the whole process was "pretty exciting".

"I've been wanting to write a story for ages," he said.

Geographe Education Support Centre teacher Nicola Anderson said staff were "incredibly proud" of Tristan-Hugh's effort.
