A bushfire in Perth’s south-eastern suburbs has been downgraded to a watch and act advice level.

The fire started just after 11.45am near the intersection of Hopkinson Road and Gloaming Way in Hilbert, about 40km south-east of Perth.

The blaze is still not contained or controlled but DFES says the blaze has slowed down in speed.

A bushfire watch and act remains in place for people an area bound by Rowley Road, Masters Road, Thomas Road and Tonkin Highway in parts of Darling Downs and Hilbert.

“The alert level for this fire has been downgraded due to decreased fire activity,” the latest DFES alert reads.

“There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is burning in the area and the conditions are changing.”

DFES says it is safe to leave on Hopkinson Road in a northerly direction if you are north of Gloaming Way, or to leave in a southerly direction if you are south of Gloaming Way.

Some roads in the area remain closed and the bushfire is moving in a southerly direction.
