Busselton resident Karen Jury will walk the Cape to Cape next month to raise funds for people affected by the Nepal Earthquake.

Ms Jury and the Busselton Geographe Bay Rotary Club are inviting others to walk the first leg of the track in the Kharanitar Appeal, Hike to Help Nepal.

Ms Jury was in Nepal earlier this year during the April 25 earthquake and said the devastation to Kathmandu and surrounding villages was quite extensive.

"I was in Nepal for three months this year when the earthquake happened," she said.

"The family I was staying with had family members who lost their houses in the village of Kharanitar from the earthquake.

"There were about 400 homes destroyed in their village and many haven't been able to rebuild and are living in temporary accommodation.

"I would like to raise $5000, which is enough money to build one house."

People can choose to walk 3km from Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse to Sugarloaf Rock, or 14km to Yallingup.

Busselton Geographe Bay Rotary Club will be organising a shuttle bus to return walkers back to their cars after reaching their destination.

Cash donations are accepted on the day, with donations of $10 for adults and $5 for children who take part in the walk. Ms Jury is currently seeking sponsorship to complete the Cape to Cape and to reach her goal of $5000.

The Kharanitar Appeal, Hike to Help Nepal will start at 9am on October 24 from the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse. To register for the walk or to sponsor Karen email karen_jury@hotmail.com or visit www.facebook.com/ Kharanitar to donate.
