Bushfire in the City of Kalamunda is at a watch and act level, with locals told to prepare to leave
A bushfire in Perth’s eastern suburbs is at a watch and act level, with locals told to prepare to leave.
The Bushfire Watch and Act is in place for people in an area bounded by Pomeroy Road, Canning Road, Tanner Road and Moffett Road in Lesmurdie, Carmel and Walliston.
There is a bushfire in the area moving in a southerly direction.
It is out of control and unpredictable, DFES says.
“If your plan is to leave, leave now,” the latest DFES alert says.
“Take your emergency kit with you. It should include an AM/FM radio that runs off batteries, a first aid kit, a woollen blanket, phones, protective clothing, medication and irreplaceable valuables.
“If you plan to stay and defend ensure you are mentally and physically prepared, with protective clothing and an independent water supply. Make final preparations now and start patrolling your property to put out spot fires.”
Firefighters are actively fighting the fire, which was reported just before 11am.
