Ariel Bombara: Daughter of man who killed two women to speak at March Against Domestic and Family Violence
The daughter of a Perth man who killed two women in Floreat in May will speak at WA’s March Against Domestic and Family Violence on Monday.
Ariel Bombara will address the hundreds expected to gather in the Perth CBD for the 34th annual rally, which will honour those killed because of FDV, as well as support for victims, their families and those living in fear across the State.
She is the daughter of the man who shot dead his ex-wife’s best friend Jennifer Petelczyc and her 18-year-old daughter in their home before turning the gun on himself.
Ms Bombara bravely faced media days after the deaths, where she opened up about being ignored after reporting her father to the authorities as dangerous, while calling for systematic change to protect women.
WA Police are awaiting permission from the families at the centre of the double murder to release a report investigating any wrongdoing by police.
About 1600 people turned out for last year’s rally, with an even bigger crowd expected this year.
The event starts from 10am in Forrest Place and is run by the Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing.
If you or someone you know is experiencing family violence, phone 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732) or the Crisis Care Helpline on 1800 199 008.
