They’re the most famous eyebrows in WA — perhaps even the country — but the State’s Spud King is willing to part with them for a good cause.

During an appearance on The West Live this morning, Tony Galati revealed he has decided to “put the eyebrows on the line” to raise money for Telethon.

“If we raise half-a-million bucks I will harvest these brows,” the potato head honcho revealed.

When host Ben O’Shea pressed him on the “serious equipment” required to achieve such a feat, a laughing Galati simply replied: “I’ll need a hedge trimmer.”

Galati has long supported the annual fundraising drive, with the charity holding a special place in his heart.

“It’s a good cause and I’m really grateful my kids and my grandkids are all healthy,” he said.

“For the less fortunate kids that are sick we have to help and pitch in.”

Despite the pandemic, West Australians raised a remarkable record-breaking $46 million for sick kids last year, showing just how much the annual drive means to Sandgropers.

“WA is unbelievable. We roll up our sleeves and we dig deep and do our best,” a proud Galati said.

“We’re really grateful to live in a beautiful State. I reckon it’s the best State in the world. So let’s see what we can do.”

Galati has yet to decide where and when he plans to take the brows off, but stay tuned because it looks like it could be live on air during Telethon.

The Spud King isn’t too concerned the bold move will mean he’ll lose his eye verandas for good.

“I think they’ll grow back,” he laughed.

“Put the right fertiliser on and I think they’ll grow back.”

Might need quite a lot to feed those very hungry caterpillars, but we reckon he’ll have a five o’clock shadow that very day.

If you want to see Galati lose his brows for a good cause you can donate online or head to your local Spud Shed and round your spend up to the nearest dollar with the difference going to Telethon.

Telethon 2021 will be back on October 16 and 17, broadcast from Crown Perth and Optus Stadium over 26 hours.
