A Capel newsagency has sold a division one winning ticket for the Saturday Lotto, landing the lucky winners $401,209 to share.

The ticket was sold on Saturday to a syndicate of 12 people, meaning they will get to take home more than $33,000 each.

According to Capel Newsagency owner Lyn Bailey, the win came after eight years of trying.

“We were ecstatic, we’ve been trying for eight years,” she said.

“It is the first time for us and it was a syndicate of 12 people so they were all very happy.”

Ms Bailey said the stroke of luck was actually down to her pick of the numbers — a tactic she’d tried with a number of punters over the years.

“I picked the numbers for them,” she said.

“I’ve been picking the same numbers for probably five years and I was always getting in trouble with the players because they’d never win and all of a sudden, they won.”

The latest win comes off the back of a division one winning ticket being sold at the Eaton Fair Newsagency last month.
