A beloved Capes family-fun attraction has been recognised for its innovative design on a Statewide scale.

Earlier this month, Yallingup Maze was awarded runner-up recreation feature in the 2023 Landscape Industries Association WA Awards of Excellence.

The awards recognise the best in landscaping design across Western Australia, with winners recognised in a variety of residential, recreational, and cultural categories.

Best known for its 40 x 50 metre timber maze, the award recognised the unique design of the centre and primary attraction, the mini golf course.

Yallingup Maze owner Heidi Teasdale said the team was honoured to received the award.

“We feel very proud to receive this award,” she said.

“Particularly as it’s the result of lots of planning, dreaming and everything in between. We had a great team of people involved to make this project happen and create a beautiful space.”

One of few regional recipients on the night said she hopes the win will attract more visitors to the South West.

“It’s always great to be recognised and know that what we offer is worthy of recognition from afar,” she said.

“The South West has so much to offer and it’s nice to be representing our region with something we are so proud of and that we know people from interstate to international visitors will be impressed with.”

Opening in August 2022, the 18-hole course was designed by LD Total and is centred around a large water feature with six cascading waterfalls and landscaped gardens.

LD Total also took home two other awards on the night, including runner-up for Display Garden of the Year and the company’s chief estimator for Perth, Josh Demczuk, taking home Landscape Employee of the Year.
