Wanted: Pianist, tenors, sopranos

Busselton's oldest choir could be forced to play without accompaniment if a replacement pianist cannot be found this winter.

Busselton Choral Society was started 55 years ago and is now in of a new pianist to replace its musician who is retiring in August.

Musical director Bill Cole said the pianist was an essential part of the group.

The paid musician would not only need to play some complicated pieces, but also be patient to accompany the choir, often playing through the same few bars during practices.

“Without an accompanist, we don’t function,” Mr Cole said.

The choir holds several concerts during the year, including its popular Christmas concert.

The society’s president Coralie Stanlake said a pianist should be able to “come up with the goods” during concerts although previous experience with choirs was not always necessary.

The choir is also looking for tenors and sopranos to add balance to the choir.

Busselton Choral Society practices at the Busselton Salvation Army Hall on Mondays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm

Those interested are asked to get in contact with Mr Cole on 9752 1752 or Ms Stanlake on 9751 5928.
