Trail run a family affair
A range of family activities will keep people of all ages busy at the inaugural Dirty Dozen Dunsborough Dirt Dash.
Taking place on September 1, the main event will feature a 12km trail run to be followed by a 2.5km charity run for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Two “Dry Tri” challenges for the younger participants will also take place the day before.
Rohan Webster, 14, and his brother Brendan, 12, will be taking part in the challenge which will see them tackle a trail run and mountain biking.
Dad Mark Webster said the weekend’s activities allowed the whole family to participate, with his wife and himself taking part in the run.
“It’s a chance to promote healthy outdoor activities, get the kids away from the television and video games,” he said.
Mr Webster said the boys hadn’t been trail riding for long, but his own interest in the sport had prompted him to get them involved.
“We live opposite the golf course so we try to make best use of the facilities there,” he said.
