Mickey Arthur is bringing his junior coaching academy back to Dunsborough next month.

The former coach of the Australian and South African national teams will hold junior cricket clinics on January 5, 6 and 7.

Arthur said he loved coming to the South West, where there was some good talent on show.

“Teaching is a passion of mine. I just love coaching,” he told the Times.

“I enjoy seeing the kids do better. Seeing them do well and the joy on their faces means more to me than anything else.”

Arthur said the clinics would cover all aspects of cricket, from bowling and batting to fielding and wicket-keeping.

“It’s about having fun and learning,” he said.

“There are certainly some talented cricketers down there (in the Capes).

“I’ve been impressed by what I’ve seen. It’s just a matter of polishing them.”

Dunsborough Cricket Club president Mat Lepidi said the club was looking forward to the coaching academy.

“It’s a chance for the young cricketers to get a high-profile coach to teach them some good things about the game and cricket in general, ” he said.

“We’re fortunate to get someone of Mickey’s stature in the game to come down here.

“People come from all over; he’s a great guy.”
