Teams run over Easter

Busselton Dunsborough Times

While most visitors to the Capes region will be enjoying the Easter long weekend, a group of runners will tackle the 137km Cape to Cape track in the name of charity.

Six runners will take on the challenge over two-and-a-half days, raising funds for The Peter Hughes Burn Foundation — a WA charity that supports burn survivors and their families.

Burn survivor and PHBF founder Peter Hughes will be running in a relay with two other burn survivors while two runners from Crawford Property Group — the event’s sponsor — will complete all 13 stages of the track.

It will be the second annual Cape to Cape event and the team aims to raise $100,000 for the charity.

CPG director and runner Ryan Crawford said he hoped the event would raise awareness of the foundation and the support it provides.

“It’s going to be a challenging event,” he said.

“We started training a year ago to prepare for the physical demands of the distance, different terrains and weather conditions.”
