Swim design honours jetty

Busselton Dunsborough Times

A special design has been unveiled for the 20th Busselton Jetty Swim in line with Busselton Jetty’s 150th anniversary.

The 3.6km ocean swim will be held on the same weekend as the jetty’s celebrations on February 7 and 8.

The Busselton Jetty Swim committee’s design brief was to create an image that would celebrate the two historic occasions.

Committee vice-president Richard Ford said it was important for members to have a theme that did not focus solely on the event but celebrated its relationship with the jetty, because without the jetty the event would not exist.

“The Jetty means a lot to everyone who lives in Busselton including those people who have swum near and around the jetty over the years for recreation, enjoyment, fun, a personal challenge or to participate in our event and we wanted to reflect that in the design, ” he said.

Committee member Simon Mansfield, who has been responsible for developing most of the themes, worked with Planet Graphics to create the 2015 design

“We are celebrating two important milestones in 2015 and we tried to capture a little bit of the history of each. We just hope everyone likes it.”

The design is now appearing on event promotions, including merchandise and advertising.

A variation of the design will be featured on the event T-shirt, which is available for swimmers to purchase via the website for $25 during registration, plus the towel that is provided to every swimmer who participates in the event. A limited edition run of 200 soft-shell jackets to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the swim will be available for sale on the weekend.
