One of Dunsborough's newest residents, two-time Olympian Casey Vincent, has swapped the track for the golf course in hopes of trying his luck at a professional level.

The 36-year-old moved to Dunsborough last month after moving with his wife from Trinidad.

The Australian sprinter competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and Athens in 2004, before retiring due to injury.

He said he decided to move to Dunsborough to be around his family and to build a life here.

"My sister and her husband moved here and my parents soon followed, and we wanted to come back to Australia and we thought this was the place to be," he said.

Mr Vincent said as well as golf he hoped to develop a boot camp program in schools across the region.

"I've taken up golf and it's something I am hoping to do on a professional level," he said.

"I really want to play at the Mandurah Open. If I play well then anything is possible.

"I am also hoping to set up a fitness boot camp program in schools to help kids exercise and have fun.

"When I was growing up we didn't have anything like that, and I'd like to be able to get kids excited about being active and making it fun."
