Surfing: Pumping surf makes quality comp

Busselton Dunsborough Times

Numbers were down but the quality of surfing was high at the Yahoo/Future Fins event on Saturday.

Yallingup Boardriders Club president Todd Taylor said competitors made the most of pumping four to six foot conditions at Yallingup carpark.

Young gun Dylan Kavanagh had the performance of the day, winning the open division ahead of Warren Peck, who just missed out on his second win for the year.

Taylor said there was only one more competition left in the year and ratings were tight.

“I urge everyone to get down there for a last crack at the points,” he said.

“The winner of the opens gets a trip to Indo and the winner of the juniors will get a trip over East to a training camp.”

The last event of the season will be the Rusty/Yallingup Coffee event on November 12 or 13.
