Sunshine disposition hits the Capes

Busselton Dunsborough Times

The frenetic fusion of surf gypsy ska rock with reggae characterising Caravãna Sun returns to the Capes region this weekend among a swag of shows the band is staging on their third WA tour.

Based on and influenced by Sydney’s Cronulla coastline, the four-piece of frontman Luke Carra, Ant Beard on bass, Alex Dumbrell on drums and Eamon Dilworth on trumpet promises to blow minds and energise the souls of new and established audiences alike.

Since their inception in 2009, Caravãna Sun have built a reputation for fist-pumping, personality-filled live shows laden with bouncing grooves and down to earth soulful lyrics.

Appearances from Margaret River to Bondi have expanded the previously underground fan base to luring even the most conservative crowds to the dance floor.

With a strong injection of gypsy culture bleeding through their infectious music, the creative collective followed summer to Europe in the middle of the year to visit the roots of inspiration behind their debut album, Rising Falling.

The tour stopped by festivals and venues throughout Switzerland, France, Holland and Spain taking in many lounge room floors and welcoming couches along the way.

After breaking for some creativity escapes, Caravãna Sun were ready to round out a successful year by reacquainting themselves on the road throughout the Australian West and East coasts, armed with a fresh sound and a new single.

“With deep rooted bass and swinging rhythm, The Bottle will be driving home a trumpeting summer anthem,” Beard said.

You can catch Caravãna Sun at Swings & Roundabouts on Sunday from 11am.
