Dunsborough Primary School students will get involved in Clean Up Australia Day this year, helping volunteers from Dunsborough Coast and Land Care.

Students will clean up from Greenhaven Park to the edge of Meelup Regional Park in Dunsborough today to do their part for the environment.

Dunsborough Primary School teacher Helena Nicholson said it was important for students to get involved in the community.

“It’s important to build a relationship between the school and community and share the load,” she said.

“We appreciate the work Dunsborough Coast and Land Care have done with Clean Up Australia Day over the past 10 years and the school and students would like to support that and help make a difference.”

The Dunsborough Coast and Land Care group and volunteers will clean up over 5km of coastline from Dunsborough to Geographe Bay Road in Quindalup on Monday as part of the official Clean Up Australia Day event.

Dunsborough Coast and Land Care president Ron Glencross said it was great to have students on board.

“It’s really great to see young people who are keen to help the environment and do their part for the community,” he said.

“We welcome any help we can get to help keep our coastline clean.”

Clean Up Australia Day will be held on Sunday, March 6.
