Sydney band Sticky Fingers are excited to be returning to WA for their gig in Margaret River this weekend.

The band will play old favourites as well as songs from their upcoming album.

Sticky Fingers bassist Paddy Cornwall said he was looking forward to playing at The Beer Farm.

“Our crowds have grown a bit so we needed to play at bigger places and so this venue should be great,” he said.

The band released the first song from their upcoming album, Outcast at Last, this week.

“It tells a fictional story that a lot of people can relate to,” he said.

“Like a lot of songs, it is up for personal interpretation.”

Cornwall said the band recently finished recording their third album in Thailand.

“In between our hectic tour schedule last year we spent our time writing,” he said.

“We decided we all needed some kind of break and recording the album in Thailand was like some sort of holiday.

“We lived life by the beach and spent our days recording and going around on scooters.”

Cornwall said the songs on the album had an original sound.

“Our style is always diverse and we’re very lucky that we’ve always had our own sound,” he said.

“None of our albums have ever been the same.”

Cornwall said the process of creating the album was very collaborative, with all members of the band “bringing something different to the table”.

“At the beginning of 2015, we built a small studio in Marrickville and wrote and demoed about 40 songs,” he said.

“Then when we went to Thailand we chose 15 of them and reduced it down to 13 which will be on the album.”

The band has played in the region before, at Settler’s Tavern, where Paddy said the crowds were very energetic.

“The crowds are always totally wild and we actually ended up at a house party and had a bit of a crazy night,” he said.

“We’re looking forward to getting back and catching up with some of the mates we met last time.”

Sticky Fingers will play at The Beer Farm on Sunday from 4pm.
