Shervington takes helm at film fest
Helen Shervington has been announced as the new chair of the CinefestOz film festival for 2016.
One of the original founders, along with former chair David Barton, Ms Shervington has been involved with the festival since its inception in 2008.
Margaret Buswell has taken on the role of deputy chair, while Mr Barton will stay on as part of the board.
Ms Shervington said the festival’s development over the years had been an exciting journey.
“We all had to learn a great deal about the film industry and how it operated very quickly,” she said.
“CinefestOz is now the largest destination film festival in Australia and attracts national and international audiences.
“We hope when filmmakers see this beautiful part of the world we live in they will be motivated to make films here as well.”
