Held over seven weeks, the classes aimed to deliver the skills and knowledge required to modify existing styled patterns to create new styles with minimal modification.

Lecturer Mladen Milicich said this would be the first time a fashion course was offered in Busselton.

“The unit is a great way for someone who has a bit of curiosity in this area to get to know more about this huge industry,” he said.

The classes will start with analysing different fabrics before moving onto basic pattern making principals starting with the basic skirt and moving onto shirts, collars and cuffs.

Mr Milicich brings to the course more than 15 years of experience in the fashion industry, and was the only freelance pattern grader in WA.

The course commences on Tuesday, October 16, and is open to students undertaking a certificate at TAFE or as a standalone class.
