Schools lap the planet

Busselton Dunsborough Times

Georgiana Molloy Anglican School students joined 120,000 others Australia-wide to run more than three times around the world.

Each of the 500 students walked, jogged or ran 1km in the Run Around the World event to celebrate the inaugural National Health and Physical Education Day last month.

Project manager Brendan Hopp said the run had “captured the kids’ imaginations” and their enthusiasm had “exceeded all expectations”.

The original plan was to register 40,000 Australian students to run the distance of the earth’s circumference but 120,000 students from 520 schools signed up to participate.
