After more than seven years dishing up delights for the Dunsborough community, Samudra will close its doors this weekend.

The alternative health cafe was one of the first raw and vegan restaurants in the South West.

General manager Shelby Walsh said Samudra's time in Dunsborough saw many challenges, but it was time for the cafe to close.

"Being a seasonal town and being an alternative concept for a restaurant, it has always been challenging," she said.

"The building was up for sale and the owners saw it as a chance to have a well- deserved break, but it is unlikely that Samudra will reopen."

The venue held a celebration and memorial last Saturday to give customers a chance to say goodbye.

Ms Walsh said the experience was bittersweet, but it was nice to see so much support from the community.

"It has evolved from a small vegan cafe and has gotten bigger and better from there, reaching out to other styles of food," she said.

"We've had people from all over WA share the post about us closing down and we've had so many of our customers share stories about their time at Samudra.

"Dunsborough is one of those towns where as a business you rely so much on the local community for support and we're lucky to have had so many great customers. I think the one message we would look to portray from this whole experience is to support your local businesses."
