Playing hockey for 10 years has put Jasmine Wallace on track to be a star on the rise for the sport.

Jasmine started playing minkey hockey when she was four and currently trains five times a week, spending most weekends training in Perth.

“I always had a love for hockey, I love the game and the friends you make,” she said.

“My coaches along the way have been really supportive.”

In 2014 Jasmine represented WA in the under-13 girls competition in Queensland and will be competing again in nationals this week in Wollongong.

“It’s such a good experience and it’s such a great honour to play for your State,” she said.

Jasmine was awarded the Rising Sports Star award in January and said she was excited to win the award.

“I was so happy,” she said.

Her mum, Grace Wallace, said she was proud of her daughter for winning the award.

“Jasmine puts in a lot of hours for training and it’s a fantastic award to encourage them,” she said.

“ It’s an added bonus of being able to have a little bit of icing on the cake.”
