Busselton rounded out the regional City to Surf tour with a record turnout at the weekend.

The second annual Chevron City to Surf for Activ WA Series was hosted at Signal Park on Sunday with 1117 participants taking part in 4km and 12km walks and runs.

Participants from across the State and the South West region included a group of 29 people who have participated in four of the five-part series.

City of Busselton deputy mayor Grant Henley sounded the horn for the 4km walk/run at 8.25am.

“The City of Busselton is excited again to be part of this great event that supports such a worthy cause, ” he said.

“The community participation by schools and other groups, both local and visiting, is wonderful to see. We look forward to being involved in next year’s Chevon City to Surf for Activ event in Busselton.”

Activ Foundation chief executive Tony Vis and Chevron Australia general manager of operations Brian Smith competed in the 12km run. Mr Vis was extremely pleased with the community spirit shown.

“It was a great turnout...and I really enjoyed participating in the 12km event with the Busselton community, ” he said. “Thank you to everyone who helped make the event so successful and for supporting our cause.

“All funds raised for Activ will help us to enable people living with disability to pursue a better life.”
