Ready, set, walk to work...!
A Busselton car dealership will generate traffic of the on-foot variety next Friday, when it becomes a walk workplace to support the prevention and treatment of cancer.
Busselton Mazda, Mitsubishi and Suzuki registered for Walk to Work Day which encouraged organisations to build regular walking into daily routines to promote productivity and long-term health benefits, to raise funds for Cancer Council Australia.
Employees would gather for a breakfast meeting at the Goose cafe before setting off for Bussell Highway, with some staff members also electing to walk up to 10km from their homes.
Busselton Motors owner David Bateson said he had a family history with cancer and after his son and employee Byron Bateson suggested the idea, the activity became a way to channel team spirit for a cause.
The dealerships have generated about $2500 with an in-house competition to reward the highest individual fundraiser, and hope a target of $5000 could be reached.
