Quilt show spreads out
Entries close next Friday for the Dunsborough Quilt Show, one of the South West's biggest quilt exhibitions.
The show will be held across the weekend of October 24 and 25 at the St George's Family Centre in Gibney Street.
Spokeswoman Dianne Gillett said the new centre would provide a much bigger exhibition space.
Ms Gillett said when the first quilt show was held two years ago it attracted about 106 quilts. Organisers were hoping to attract a record number of entries to go with the new exhibition space this year.
"We already have interest from quilters in Perth, Bunbury and many other towns in the South West," she said.
Features at this year's show include traditional techniques, as well as modern approaches to quilting.
Ms Gillett said beginners and advanced quilters were all welcome to exhibit.
"Entries can include patchwork or appliqué, wall hangings, runners, cushions, bags or large quilts," she said.
"Quilters can also sell their quilts at the show if they want, with a 15 per cent commission to St George's."
Entries need to be delivered to the centre by Friday, October 23.
A People's Choice prize will be also be sponsored by Busselton's The Blue Box shop.
Public admission to the show will be through a gold coin donation, with profits going to St George's Overseas Mission and Emergency Relief Program.
