Golfers would dress in bright pink at the annual Wear Pink event next Wednesday, as they made their way around the course, to raise money for the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia.

Women’s president Judy Frimston said organisers would collect gold coins from players and boost the fundraising kitty by issuing fines to those not embracing the pink theme.

Those who hit bunkers were also not being spared fines, with gold coins collected throughout the year from the unlucky players.

Last year organisers raised $380 from “bunker fines”.

The event is in its 24th year after it was started by former captain Beryl Russell.

“A lot of our girls have been diagnosed and treated so we decided to do something about it,” Ms Frimston said.

Golfers in the Wear Pink event will tee off at 9.30am.
