Pet-SAFE musicians to hold recital
Musicians with a love for animals will hammer the keys at a piano recital fundraiser at Dunsborough Hall.
Organised by music teacher Summer Chi, the event will raise money for Saving Animals From Euthanasia.
Guests have been asked to bring a gold-coin donation to see Miss Chi and her students play classical and pop tunes.
Local guitar students will also join in for a performance.
Miss Chi was inspired to hold the event after she fostered a cat from SAFE, which had developed skin cancer.
“She was living on a farm and the farmers moved away and left her. She was exposed to the sun and it was too late (when I fostered her),” she said.
“I do think people need to be educated. It’s not just a cat, it’s a life. If you don’t have the ability, don’t have an animal.”
Miss Chi said SAFE needed the support of the local community and the charity was looking for Dunsborough foster carers.
She said she was proud of her students.
“Lots of them don’t have stage experience but I wished (for them to have) a goal to achieve, to have an effort to practise and the fundraiser is a bonus,” she said.
The recital will be held on Saturday, June 1, from 1pm to 3pm.
