New artist holds first exhibition

Busselton Dunsborough Times

Dunsborough Art Society member Gemma Lybrand will showcase her work in her first exhibition, since picking up her first paintbrush only a couple years ago.

Mrs Lybrand moved to Dunsborough with her husband in 2004, and joined the society in 2009 as a novice after being inspired by the region’s beauty.

She said she spent a lot of holidays “swimming and surfing at Yallingup” in her youth and thought Dunsborough would be the ideal place to retire to.

“I took up painting after moving to Dunsborough as I’ve always wanted to do it and thought this would be the right time,” she said.

“I’ve been lucky enough to get some awards from local art exhibitions since I started.”

The exhibition would be held at the Society Art Hall on the corner of Gifford and Gibney Street on Wednesday and Thursdays from 10am to 3pm.
