Nannup celebrates growth

Nannup is celebrating garden design diversity at the Nannup Flower and Garden Festival in town this weekend.

The festival theme, Over the Garden Gate, has explored the variety of garden styles and celebrates everything that is great about gardening in Nannup.

The festival, which kicked off yesterday, is packed full of events, displays and entertainment until Sunday.

Festival co-ordinator Stellar Fraser said the new Paddock to Plate pavilion would present some of the region’s fresh- est and finest produce this year.

“Celebrity chefs Sabrina Hahn, Neville Passmore and Margaret River’s own Sean Carter will be amongst those cooking up a storm, ” she said.

“These sessions will promote cooking in season, organics in gardening and the journey of food to our plates, hosted by food-loving journalist, Louise FitzRoy.”

Nationally recognised founder of Fork in the Field Alison Drover will share her passion for food security with talks and demonstrations on sustainability in the garden.

Local green thumbs are opening their gardens to the public, including Especially Tulips, Black Cockatoo and Riverwood Retreat.

The C-Wise Garden Talks Marquee will host a series of presentations from renowned local permaculture expert Bob Longmore and Peta Townsing from the Festival of Country Gardens.

Artwork, a sculpture walk, workshops, market stalls, vintage car and bike displays, street performers, choirs and even bellringers will also feature this weekend.
