Dunsborough artist Su Berghuis-Garde will put her thoughts, feelings and memories on show next week in Layered Memories.

The exhibition, at Caves House Hotel, will include 32 pieces of work, which will depict a lifetime of experiences, travel and memories.

The work will include acrylic on canvas, mono prints on paper, drawings and water colours, and are all based around the theme of nature and environmental landscapes.

Berghuis-Garde said the work was based on events and places that impacted her life.

“The work is taken from living in different places, travelling and places I have been and experiences I have had,” she said.

“Some of the work is not easily recognisable and will be open to individual interpretation.”

The exhibition will be opened by Berghuis-Garde’s friend and fellow artist Mary-Lynne Stratton.

Berghuis-Garde said she was looking forward to holding the exhibition at Caves House.

“The new owners, Neil Jilley and Libby Sheppard, approached me and wanted to showcase my work there and it’s really exciting to have another place artist can exhibit their work,” she said.

“I remember going to Caves House when I was younger and listening to bands there and then as I got older, taking my children there to enjoy the beautiful gardens, so it’s great to be able to have my exhibition at such a great location with so many good memories.”

The exhibition will open on Friday, March 18, from 6pm to 8pm, and will be open daily until April 3.
