Men open up
The Busselton Men’s Shed will mark Men’s Health Week from June 9 to 15 with two functions at their new premises.
Shed co-ordinator Trevor Fisher said the gatherings, which will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 1pm at the Roe Terrace venue, were a chance to “have a coffee and a chat”.
Men’s Health week is about promoting male health and wellbeing, and Mr Fisher said companionship was essential to wellbeing.
“We offer mental health support, ” he said.
“That’s mainly through mentoring and companionship as well as helping out with little jobs in the community.”
Mr Fisher said the Busselton Men’s Shed was often confused with Mates Men’s Support, but the Men’s Shed had a different focus.
“I guess we’re the men’s version of the CWA in terms of the services we provide, ” he said.
