Man charged after machete threats

An 18-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences after he allegedly threatened people with a machete.

Police allege the Forrestfield man was involved in a fight at the Busselton Jetty at 11.50pm on Saturday.

It is further alleged the man then went to a West Street unit where he was staying and became extremely aggressive and picked up a machete.

Police allege the man took the machete and walked down to Signal Park and was yelling and screaming.

While he was there the man encountered two women, who he threatened to injure with the machete.

The women went back to their house on Myles Street and called the police.

It is alleged the man followed the women and smashed two front windows with the machete, before damaging two cars on the street.

Police allege the man then went back to the unit on West Street, where police arrested the man.

The man was charged with being armed in public to cause fear, threats to injure or harm and three counts of criminal damage.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear in Bunbury Magistrate’s Court today.
